HOME receives grant for emergency housing assistance

We are pleased to announce that the Celebration Foundation has awarded HOME a $4,500 grant to provide approximately 125 nights of emergency housing to families here in Osceola County. About 75% of the phone calls we receive are from families in need of immediate short-term housing. When they call, they are within days (or sometimes hours) of being on the streets. This funding will help prevent that from happening. As part of this emergency housing program, we will also provide case management and life skills education to help families achieve self sufficiency.

If you have clients who could benefit from this program:
- When we are ready to start accepting referrals, we will post the information on this blog- please stay tuned!
- Clients for whom one-time assistance will prevent an episode of chronic homelessness will be most likely to receive assistance
- Funds are for families (either single or dual parent)

THANK YOU CELEBRATION FOUNDATION!!!!

Speaking of our programs...
Beginning on September 24th and continuing through October, we will be accept full applications for our 16-unit transitional housing program for homeless women and their children. The applications will be taken on a rolling basis, meaning that residents will not be selected until we have had a chance to review all of the applications. Potential residents must schedule an interview to apply. The residential program will have its grand opening this fall.

And last but not least...
Don't forget about our BIG volunteer event on September 12th. We are still looking for project leaders. If you would like to sign up to be a project leader and help us transform our campus (you need to be at least 18 years old and be available from 12-7pm on Sept. 12th) please email me or call 407-933-0870 ext. 235.
